Drone for
film
Aerial drone unit for filming feature films, series, commercials, music videos and fashion in Barcelona. Cinematic 6K shots, integration with the director and the director of photography, and on-set safety. AESA-certified and insured operator.
Aerial filming
unit
The drone as
just another camera
We are not a service on the sidelines of the shoot: we are a camera position that speaks the language of the production.
Film and series
Establishing shots, aerial travellings and transitions for feature films and serialised fiction.
Commercials and advertising
Opening shots and product moves for brand spots and campaigns.
Music videos
Movement, energy and impossible points of view for music pieces.
Fashion and editorial
Aerial runway shots, lookbooks and fashion campaigns on location.
Documentary and brand
Locations, contexts and aerial archive for non-fiction pieces and branded content.
FPV and cinema drones
Immersive flight and continuous moves with an FPV drone for dynamic single-take shots.
6K shots and
working with directing
We record in 6K RAW and log so the colour house has latitude, and we plan every shot with the director and the director of photography before the first take.
Filming with
guarantees
Flying within a shoot means coordinating people, space and regulations. This is the part that often does not show on screen.
Barcelona is one of the European cities with the most film shoots, and the Barcelona Film Commission is the office that facilitates public-space permits and coordination with municipal services. We work within this framework: we provide the flight authorisation with AESA and the coordination with ENAIRE when the location requires it, while the production arranges with the city council the occupation of public roads, the closures and the presence of the Mossos d'Esquadra required in Catalonia. Here we explain how the permits work →
Shooting
questions
Do you work integrated with the directing team?
Yes. The aerial unit becomes part of the shooting plan and works side by side with the director and the director of photography. We plan every shot in advance (storyboard, references and shot list) and, during the shoot, the pilot and the camera operator follow the directing instructions in real time.
In what format do you deliver the footage for post-production?
We record in 6K RAW and log to give the maximum latitude for colour grading. We deliver the native files with the camera metadata so the edit and the colour house work without loss, and we adjust codec, frame rate and sensitivity to the production's standard.
How is on-set safety managed?
Before each flight we carry out a risk assessment of the set: we define the flight zone, the safety perimeter, the evacuation routes and the communication with the production manager and the safety officer. We fly with an AESA-certified operator and civil liability insurance of €1,500,000, and we never fly over crew or extras without the agreed measures in place.
Who handles the permits and the street closures?
We coordinate the aerial part with the production. We handle the flight authorisation with AESA and the coordination with ENAIRE when required; the permits for occupying public roads, the closures and the presence of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Catalonia are arranged with the city council and the relevant film office, usually through the Barcelona Film Commission.
Can you fly indoors or in enclosed spaces?
Yes. For sound stages, warehouses and interior locations we use compact drones and, depending on the scene, we shield the propellers and adapt the lighting with the camera team. Indoor flight falls outside controlled airspace, but we keep the same safety and insurance protocol.
What is the difference between the aerial unit and the rest of the cameras on the shoot?
The aerial unit covers the shots that cannot be done from a crane, dolly or steadicam: impossible travellings, transitions between heights, establishing shots and wide location moves. We treat it as one more tool within the language of the shoot and combine it with the rest of the main footage. If you are looking for a finished piece with editing and colour, take a look also at aerial video.
