Frequently asked
questions
We answer the most common questions about drone video, photography and inspections in Barcelona: permits, prices, working process, coverage and technical details. Everything you want to know before requesting a quote, all in one place.
Permits
and legality
Flying legally in Barcelona is a science of its own. We handle all the paperwork for you.
Do I need a permit to fly a drone in Barcelona?
In practice, almost always yes. Barcelona is full of UAS geographical zones with restrictions: controlled airspace, urban environments, aerodromes and sensitive points. Depending on where and how you fly, you may need specific authorisations. We are an AESA-authorised operator and we handle the necessary permits for each flight, so you don't have to worry about anything. You'll find the step-by-step detail in the guide to drone permits in Barcelona.
Who can legally fly a drone professionally?
To fly professionally you must be registered as an operator with AESA and the pilot must have the corresponding training. We are an AESA-authorised operator, with operator licences and public liability insurance of €1,500,000. If you don't meet the requirements, we fly on your behalf.
Can I fly a drone on the beach?
It depends on the beach and the time. Many beaches along the Catalan coast lie within UAS geographical zones or have seasonal restrictions, especially in summer and with people on the sand. We check each case on the ENAIRE map and, when needed, we request the corresponding authorisation before flying.
Which permits and procedures do you handle?
We take care of the whole chain: checking UAS zones on the ENAIRE map, airspace coordination, risk assessment when necessary and the authorisations with AESA and the relevant authorities. If the flight is near a heliport operated by the Generalitat or in a sensitive environment, we also handle coordination with whoever is responsible.
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold public liability insurance of €1,500,000, as required by regulations for professional drone operations. We can provide proof before the service with no problem.
Prices
and quotes
Fixed quote, no fine print.
How much does a drone video or photo session cost?
The price depends on the type of work, the length of the shoot, the permits required and the editing. We work with a fixed quote based on your project, with no surprises. We explain how we calculate each item on the how much a drone video costs page.
Does the quote include the permits?
Yes. When we prepare a quote we already include the management of permits and the airspace coordination your flight requires, so the price you see is the final price. If a location needs a special authorisation, we tell you before finalising anything.
How long do you take to send a quote?
We normally send you the quote in less than 24 h from when you tell us what you need. The more details you give us (location, dates, use of the material), the more accurate the price will be.
Process
and delivery
From the first call to the final master.
What is the working process, from start to finish?
We start with a conversation to understand the goal and we review the legal feasibility of the location. Then we prepare the flight plan and process the permits, we carry out the shoot on the agreed day and move on to editing. We deliver a first version for you to validate and, with your feedback, we finalise the master.
How long does delivery of the edited material take?
For a standard project, the first cut is usually ready a few days after the shoot and the final delivery depends on the rounds of changes you need. If you have a tight deadline, let us know and we'll adapt the schedule.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the shoot?
Safety and quality come first. If the wind, rain or visibility don't allow us to fly safely, we reschedule the shoot at no additional cost for the rescheduling itself. We always check the forecast in the days beforehand to plan ahead.
Coverage
and areas
Barcelona, the metropolitan area and all of Catalonia.
Which areas do you work in?
We work in the city of Barcelona, the metropolitan area and all of Catalonia: Costa Brava, Girona, the Maresme, Tarragona and inland. If your project is outside this area, contact us and we'll assess it.
Can you fly within the city of Barcelona?
Yes. Flying in Barcelona's urban environment is more demanding because there is controlled airspace and many conditions, but as an AESA-authorised operator we handle the coordination and permits needed so the flight is legal and safe.
Technical
questions
Resolution, formats, rights and specialised services.
Do you carry out technical inspections and not just video?
Yes. As well as aerial video and photography, we carry out drone inspections of roofs, façades, solar plants and infrastructure, and also surveying and photogrammetry. The drone allows us to inspect hard-to-reach points safely and without scaffolding.
In what resolution and format do you deliver the material?
We record video in 4K and 6K and shoot photography in high resolution. We deliver in the format you need: horizontal 16:9 for web, vertical for social media, or the raw material if you want to edit it yourself.
Who owns the rights to the final material?
We agree the usage rights in writing within the quote, based on the use you want to make of it (web, social media, advertising, etc.). The music we include always comes with a proper licence so you can publish with no surprises.
Do you work for other photographers, agencies or production companies?
Yes. We offer a pilot and AESA operator service for professionals who need the aerial part covered with all the permits and insurance in order. We work white-label so the result is yours.
